New Handbook to help fishermen manage fisheries
A new Handbook of fisheries science and management will help fish harvesters take more control of their fisheries.
“Fisheries Science and Management: A Handbook for Canadian Fish Harvesters” gives a concise outline of Department of Fisheries and Oceans’s science and management processes, and points to opportunities for co-research and co-management.
The 39-page booklet also includes a glossary of technical terms, and phone numbers and points of contact within DFO.
Printed copies while supplies last are available on request from the Council. The Handbook will also go on the CCPFH website. The Council intends to expand the Handbook and provide versions tailored to Canada’s different fishing regions. Future editions will also reflect changes in DFO’s evolving science and management policies.
