New project funding will enhance ICTC’s Workshops Online for internationally educated ICT Francophone and Anglophone professionals in Canada

Based on the success of its recently launched Workshops Online: Immigration to Integration, an online e-learning tool for internationally educated professionals (IEPs) and immigration stakeholders, the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is proud to announce the next phase of this project that will further enhance its goal to help integrate French-speaking as well as English-speaking IEP talent into Canada’s ICT workforce.

The Enhanced Online Learning Workshops: Francophone Edition and New Language/Communications Module for Newcomers in Information and Communications Technology project will extend ICTC’s Workshops Online to include a francophone audience, with the help of funding from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The current Workshops Online, available only in English, provides ICT sector-specific information and resources for newcomers and those organizations serving newcomers to boost awareness and knowledge about ICT in order to improve newcomer integration and employment in the ICT sector.

In the next phase of this initiative, ICTC will be translating Workshops Online into French as well as adapting the tool to include new learning material based on consultations with ICT francophone newcomers and immigration stakeholders along with pilot testing across Canada in francophone communities and overseas in French sourcing countries. In addition, a new workshop will be added on Online Enhanced Language Training for newcomers in ICT. The new online learning workshop module extensions will address language training and labour market integration in both English and French.

“This project is complementary to ICTC’s current Immigration Initiatives’ work and will help to ensure that IEPs can be better integrated into the ICT sector in Canada,” said Paul D. Swinwood, president of ICTC as the project was announced today.
