BioTalent Canada is seeking applications from individuals who are willing to commit to the responsibilities of being a member of the Board of Directors.
BioTalent Canada's Board of Directors is:
• Responsible to the biotechnology sector, government departments and agencies that provide funds for the operation of BioTalent Canada.
• Accountable to exercise good stewardship of BioTalent Canada on behalf of the trust placed in it by all stakeholders.
• As representative of BioTalent Canada's "membership and the biotechnology sector", given the legal corporate authority and responsibility for the achievement of the organization's mission, for its stability and linkages with other organizations with similar objectives, and the sector at large.
• Responsible for ensuring that it has adequate information to monitor major areas of corporate performance.
• Responsible for the governance of BioTalent Canada and oversees the management of BioTalent Canada's finances.
• Primarily responsible within the eight general areas of: Planning; Financial Stewardship; Human Resources Stewardship; Performance Monitoring and Accountability; Risk Management; Industry Representation and Advocacy; Management of Critical Transitional Phases; and, Complaints Review.
Carrying out the work of the Board of Directors effectively requires a commitment to attend all Board meetings as required (i.e. approximately four annually). Biotechnology encompasses a variety of sub sectors (i.e. human health, agriculture, food processing, natural resources, environment, aquaculture, bioinformatics, bioenergy) and it is BioTalent Canada's intent to reflect this diversity in the Board as appropriate to BioTalent Canada's strategic objectives. Past industry experience as well as current position will be evaluated in determining a candidate's suitability. Previous national board experience, human resource management experience and/ or general management/ financial experience in the biotechnology sector is desirable.
